The Problem with Traditional Lighting
While the glow of incandescent lights is charming, and the efficiency of LED bulbs is gratifying, there is an inherent flaw in traditional lighting systems that Trimlight completely bypasses. No matter how you cut it, traditional holiday lighting is very high maintenance. From mismatched bulbs and reliability issues to storage space and the required time to install and remove them each year, traditional Christmas lights have the potential to steal your joy.
Tangles, Broken Bulbs & The Absence of Uniformity
Most traditional household lighting comes pre-lamped from the factory, which means when 1 light burns out a whole section of the strand goes out.
High Voltage Power
While Trimlight operates exclusively on only 12-volts, traditional lights require 110-volts, costing you more money in energy and increasing your risk of overloading circuits. Also, traditional lights are susceptible to nibbling pests (squirrels) and other factors such as overflowing gutters, high wind, and more.
Unpredictable in the Rain
We in Washington hang our holiday lights on the outside of our homes during the wettest season of the year, and we hope nothing goes wrong. But, electricity and water have never been friends. Trimlight is installed under the eaves of your home where it’s dry — and they’re waterproof.
Static & Stuck
Traditional holiday lighting is a static, or fixed product. This means you must select a color pattern up front and commit to it. Changing color with traditional lighting requires significant time and money as all bulbs must be manually replaced. Changing color with Trimlight is just the click of a button.
Limited by Law
Depending on where you live in Washington, there may be 2 distinct guidelines that must be followed with traditional holiday lights. (1) Your HOA may require you to remove your lights after the holidays — usually by February 1st, and (2) Most professionally installed traditional lighting is built on SPT-1 lamp wire which is classified as “temporary lighting” and must not be left installed more than 90-days.
Excessive Waste
No one knows exactly how many tons of twisted plastic, metal and glass gets buried in landfills after each holiday season — but, it’s a lot. DAPrDAN has been doing our part for more than 2 decades by making customer’s traditional lights last longer — up to 15 years. Now, with Trimlight, we are able to reduce our (already low) 5-year estimated carbon footprint by more than 900%. That’s called making a positive contribution.
